“Today, I played. I played alone, together, and watched others play. I both saw, and felt the happiness that imagining brings. I also saw what could be created. It was amazing and gives me much hope. It reminded me that anything is truly possible”
Charlotte, CBHS Key Club “It was amazing to see people, all age groups, playing and creating together.”
Officer Morris, Cocoa Beach Police Department “It is a delight to see children engaged with materials working from inner wisdom, curiosity, and creativity! Playing with these “throw away” items to create houses, structures, spaces, towers, machines, people, and items only they envision. They are the creators of the future! This is how we all should create a better healthy planet by using what we have already and having fun in the process.
THANK YOU for your vision!” Grandmother Bonni “The space is open and inviting. It’s nice to do something collaborative with my son and watch him problem solve to create something. He is proud he built. I feel proud but not surprised, he’s smart.”
Rey Connoly, Tyler’s Mother “We made a marble run, and it worked pretty good, and it was very fun.”
Tyler, 11 years old “Build a stack of miscellaneous mostly foam forms - unstable -fell! re-stacked same forms - still not real stable (Don’t blow on it!) But still standing!”

LET’S PLAY! WORKSHOP Photos and Journals Cocoa Beach Public Library Saturday, March 9, 2023 KIWANIS Club of Melbourne This workshop was attended by three members of the Cocoa Beach High School Key Club.
It provided the students the opportunity to interact in an environment foreign to the typical setting in which these students know each other. Not only did they have the opportunity to play amongst themselves with random materials to expand their creativity, but they sat and chatted with the police officer of the Cocoa Beach Police Department. I expect that this interaction was a new experience and provided a unique perspective of law enforcement. I observed the students interacting with young children and assisting them with developing their creativity. I don’t know if the students have elementary age siblings at home so this was a good experience for them to learn about youngsters. Marlene White, CBHS KEY CLUB ADVISOR “I love hanging out with the kids and building things with him. It was a great opportunity to be creative and have fun. I would definitely do this again thank you.
Thank you!” Mia Sestile, CBHS Key Club “It has been a real pleasure to attend today’s event! Materials were very friendly and encouraging for the creativity of our children and easy for our children to use. Our children enjoyed drawing and building with foam blocks and plastic cases. I didn’t realize material that we’ve seen as throwaway be used as very useful and interactive activities. Hands-on activities were good for our children too. Thank you for today’s event. We really enjoyed.”
Jeff Park, Father “I had so much fun building a “soundstage” for my daughter’s rock band. I could feel joy and creativity flowing through me.”
Dr. Jaya Prakash, President Elect KIWANIS Club of Melbourne “A wonderful expression of open-ended play and discussion that allowed people to create and share what’s on their mind. It was a special community event and I am looking forward to having more.”
