Sometime in the past weeks, Rosemary was hoodwinked then kidnapped by a couple of scamsters. They took her to Mississippi and used her credit card for food, hotel and casinos (estimated between $3,000 to $5,000). Then, somewhere near Hattiesburg, while at a gas station, Rosemary went to the bathroom. She locked herself in and waited for the manager to come and told him she had been kidnapped.
Just before she was found, a local - John- struck up a conversation with the kidnappers. After the kidnappers fled, he kindly took Rosemary in as she was in a state of fear and shock. Bill Mcara was then called and began the unenviable task of being a responsible go-between. He called me and I spoke with John and Rosemary Sunday morning. John was at his wits end as Rosemary was not sleeping and rearranging his house at night. He wanted her out. Just as Bill and I were hatching a plan to get Rosemary back to Cocoa Beach, the Hattiesburg police took John into custody with the possible charge of kidnapping (per Rosemary) and placed Rosemary in the Hospital for observation.
Linda and Dave Kabbord have also been apprised of the situation. Bill and I have no reason to think John is a bad actor but we have only spoken to him on the phone so we cannot speak to his character with certainty.
We will keep everyone apprised as this yarn unravels.
